2003 was the year for Scarlett Johansson to do slow movies. Girl with a pearl earring has a script at least, which is more than Lost in Translation can say... The cinematography, artistic direction and costume design are very good. And that's pretty much it. Though Colin Firth is very hot and the actors are good in general (with the exception of pouting Scarlett), the movie in general is quite tedious.
