I've seen it all (twice)

The second time I've seen Dancer in the Dark has made it very clear. It is Perfect. A true masterpiece. The performances are so powerful, they hurt physically. Lars Von Trier is probably right when he says he's the best director in the world.

Thank you, Mr. Von Trier

Antichrist is a wonderful film. At first I was a little afraid because I'm a pussy and I have really bad moments with horror movies, but this movie is not about fear, it is about pain. And if there's something Lars Von Trier understands, that's pain. The whole cast (ehem...) is amazing, though like the jury at Cannes 09 I would stand out Gainsbourg's complex and moving performance. The technical aspects are exquisite as is the brief soundtrack.
It really pisses me off that this movie is going to be remembered by a few moments, that though pivotal to the story, are not its core.
Simply a masterpiece.

If Lars von Trier has taught us something...

...is that being good is completely pointless.

Isn't that so, Bess?
Isn't that so, Selma?
Isn't that so, Grace?
